Some of the relatives of the victims of Bloody Sunday have called for the prosecution of soldiers whose actions were detailed in the Saville Report.
Gerry Duddy and John Kelly told the Oireachtas Committee on the Implementation of the Good Friday Agreement that the evidence is there to prosecute.
Another relative told the committee there is a need for some ‘mechanism’ to bring out the truth behind other controversial episodes during the Troubles.
Tony Doherty said the Saville Inquiry was a very formal judicial approach to take and something like the Truth and Reconciliation Commission used in South Africa might work better in other cases.
