The jury in the trial of a father accused of sexually abusing three of his children has begun considering its verdict.

The 73-year-old has pleaded not guilty to 96 counts of sexually abusing two daughters and a son at various locations from 1997 to 2002.

Mr Justice George Birmingham earlier directed the jury to return verdicts of not guilty on 17 other counts.

The trial, before the Central Criminal Court, lasted seven weeks.
