Thousands of revellers today took to the streets of Belfast for the annual Gay Pride parade.

The event is celebrating its 20th anniversary and began at Custom House Square at noon.

It followed a route through the centre of the city including along part of Royal Avenue, Donegall Place and in front of the City Hall.

Up to 10,000 people watched or took part.

It is the culmination of Pride week, which has been running since last Saturday.

Protesters including Free Presbyterians held counter-demonstrations during today's event.
