A man in his 20s has been seriously injured in a shooting incident in Limerick.
The shooting occurred in the St John's Square area of the city shortly after 9pm this evening.
It is understood the victim was sitting in a car with several other people when another man approached the vehicle and fired a number of shots.
The victim was taken to the Mid Western Regional Hospital, where his condition is described as critical.
It is understood he is from the Hyde Road area of Ballinacurra Weston, and is aligned to one of the major criminal gangs operating on the southside of Limerick.
