The family of art student Emer O'Loughlin have welcomed renewed efforts by the gardaí to establish who murdered her and say they are hopeful of a prosecution.

The body of 23-year-old Ms O'Loughlin, from Ennistymon, Co Clare, was found in a burnt-out caravan on the Clare-Galway boundary five years ago.

Investigators could not definitively establish her cause of death at the time.

Her remains were exhumed yesterday and tests were carried out, which established that she had died violently.
