A 27-year-old man has gone on trial for the murder of a man whose body was discovered in the boot of his own car in Dublin last year.
Stephen Penrose, of no fixed abode, has admitted manslaughter but denies murdering 28-year-old David Sharkey on 17 May 2009.
Counsel for the prosecution told the jury that David Sharkey was stabbed ten times during a dispute over a drug deal at an apartment at Park View, Black Castle in Navan.
It is the prosecution's case that on the night he died Mr Sharkey had been invited to a flat at Park View, Black Castle in Navan by a woman and Mr Penrose.
He was instructed to bring one ounce of a controlled drug.
The jury will be shown CCTV footage which shows him arriving at the flat at 8.30 that evening.
Ten minutes later Stephen Penrose and a woman can be seen carrying his body from the flat.
Just over an hour later gardaí stopped the BMW at Dunsink lane in Finglas.
It was driven by Stephen Penrose who gave a false name.
Gardaí decided to follow the car and when they saw it parked unusually they discovered it had been abandoned.
In the boot of the car they found David Sharkey's recently deceased body covered in blood.
Stephen Penrose was quickly identified as a suspect and was arrested two days later.
At the start of his trial his lawyers said he was making a number of admissions about the unlawful killing of David Sharkey but he denies a charge of murder.
