It has been announced that the funeral mass of the RTÉ broadcaster Gerry Ryan will take place in Dublin on Thursday.

His body will be brought to his family home in Clontarf this evening.

The Ryan family has said that the house will be private for the late broadcaster's wife Morah, their children and close family only.

There will be a private wake at the house from 3pm tomorrow.

Gerry Ryan's funeral will take place on Thursday and will be broadcast live on 2fm from 11.30am.

His remains will be removed from the family home on Thursday morning to St John the Baptist Church in Clontarf for the mass.

In a statement, the Ryan family asked for family flowers only, but suggested that in lieu of floral tributes, Gerry's many friends and fans could make a donation to their own charity of choice.

Thousands of people have been paying tribute on specially-dedicated websites today to the RTÉ broadcaster who was found dead at his apartment on Friday.

A Book of Condolence at the Mansion House in Dublin was open until 6pm this evening, such had been the demand to sign it.
