The former Flood Tribunal Chairman, Mr Justice Fergus Flood, has said he believes he made the correct decisions at the time, when he was at the helm of the Tribunal.
Mr Justice Flood was commenting on yesterday's Supreme Court decision, which overturned a refusal of costs to a two witnesses against whom corrupt findings were made.
The Court ruled that findings by Mr Justice Flood that two directors of Joseph Murphy Structural Engineers had ‘obstructed and hindered’ its inquiries, were outside the Tribunal's terms of reference.
The court also criticised Mr Justice Flood's decision to edit the statements of a key witness.
Speaking today, Mr Justice Flood said he was now 82 and could not remember the details of every aspect of the Tribunal.
He said he would have to go back and check the files. However, he added that he did what was right at the time.
Yesterday's decision to award costs to JMSE could result in a multi-million euro bill for the Tribunal.
