Blanchardstown gardaí have renewed their appeal for the public's help in finding a 17-year-old missing since the end of February.

Superintendent Dave Dowling says they now have some further information on Daniel McAnaspie following the first appeal.

He was last seen at 3.30am on 26 February in Whitestown Avenue, Blanchardstown, wearing navy tracksuit bottoms, a navy jacket and white runners.

He is described as 5'7", of slim build and has short brown hair.

Supt Dowling said that gardaí now have serious concerns for Daniel's safety.

'A full investigation is under way including house-to-house inquiries and searches using our divisional search teams and national resources including the Garda helicopter.

'As with any investigation, our efforts are greatly enhanced by assistance from the public and for that reason I want to appeal again today for anyone with information about Daniel to contact us.'

Although the teenager has gone missing numerous times before, gardaí say it was only for periods of up to one day and the fact he has not made any contact is totally out of character.

Searches are now under way in the Tolka River in Finglas and close to the N3 in Dublin.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Blanchardstown Garda Station on 01-6667000.
