A 29-year-old man has appeared in court charged with the murder of Daniel Tracey in Limerick last week.
John Coughlan of 54 Pineview Gardens Moyross, was charged at a special sitting of the District Court in Limerick with the murder of Mr Tracey at the Topaz garage, Caherdavin, on 22 February.
He had been in custody since last Monday night.
The court heard that he replied: 'I remain silent' when he was charged this evening. The accused man is unemployed and he was granted free legal aid.
He was remanded in custody to Limerick Prison to appear at the District Court again next Thursday.
The question of bail was not considered as it is a matter for the High Court on a murder charge.
Members of both the accused man’s family, and the victim’s family were in court.
Meanwhile, a man in his 50s arrested last Thursday evening as part of the same murder investigation is still being detained by gardaí at Roxbora Garda Station.
