Dermot McArdle, who was convicted in 2008 by a Spanish court of the manslaughter of his wife Kelly Ann Corcoran, has been ordered to return to Spain to serve his sentence.
McArdle was sentenced to two years in prison by the trial judge after a jury in Malaga found that he had caused the death of his wife, who fell from the balcony of their hotel in Marbella ten years ago.
Dermot McArdle was allowed to return home to Dundalk after the verdict, pending the outcome of the appeals process.
With that process now exhausted, the trial judge has instructed him to present himself to the court authorities to serve his sentence.
In addition to serving two years in jail, McArdle must pay a total of €220,000 in compensation to Kelly Ann Corcoran's family and to the two sons they had together.
