A 19-year-old man has been arrested following an incident in north Belfast overnight.

Police noticed a suspicious car at the rear of Antrim Road Police Station shortly before 11pm last night.

The vehicle was stopped a short distance away and local residents living in the Cliftonville Parade area were asked to leave their homes while British army technical officers examined the car

Nothing was found in the vehicle and people were allowed to return to their houses around 4am.

Five police officers received minor injuries and two police vehicles were damaged in a collision with the suspicious car.

Police are continuing to question the suspect and are appealing for witnesses to contact them.
