Two men have been arrested after an armed gang held a couple at their Dublin home and demanded money.

The men entered a house in Templeogue this morning at around 10am.

They tied-up the couple, who are in their mid-60s, during the incident.

Gardaí from Terenure were alerted and arrived at the scene.

Two of the four men were arrested at the scene while the other two escaped on foot.

A 35-year-old man is being held at Rathmines Garda Station, while the other man, aged 25, is being detained at Terenure Garda Station.

The couple were traumatised but unharmed in the incident, in which a small amount of cash was taken.

The scene is being preserved for technical examination and the Air Support Unit is assisting in the search.
