Gardaí seek public assistance in relation to a burglary that took place on Shantalla Rd in Galway city.
The incident happened at 12.30am when a male entered the house of an 80-year-old woman.
The woman was assaulted during the course of the burglary, but managed to raise the alarm.
The culprit fled the scene on foot. He is described as approximately six foot with short dark hair, and aged in his early 20s .
Gardaí are appealing to anyone who was in the vicinity of Shantalla Road to between 11pm and 2am to contact them at Mill St, Galway on 091-538000 or the Garda Confidential Line 1800 666 111.
