A 23-year-old man has been charged in connection with an assault in Galway early yesterday morning.
Dean O'Brien, Bishop O'Donnell Rd in Galway was charged at a special sitting of Galway District Court
He will appear again at Galway District Court on 4 January.
The assault took place at around 3.25am at the junction of Upper Dominick Street, Henry Street and William Street West in Galway city.
The man suffered head and facial injuries and was transferred to Beaumount Hospital in Dublin.
He remains in a critical condition.
