Garda technical experts were to carry out an examination in Co Wickow today of the scene where a body was found in a shallow grave yesterday.
The body has not yet been identified and a post mortem examination is not expected to take place until St Stephen's Day.
The remains were found during a search at Ballydonnell, Redcross by gardaí investigating the disappearance of 26-year-old Wicklow man Stephen O'Meara, who was last seen in the town on 6 August.
The discovery of the shallow grave follows the arrest of a man in his 20s on Monday in Wicklow in connection with the investigation.
He can be detained for up to a week.
