A 15-month old girl has died after she was found in a house in Enniskillen with serious injuries.
The police were called to an address in Glebe Park, a residential area in Enniskillen, last night.
There they discovered a 15-month-old infant with very serious injuries.
She was taken initially to the local Erne Hospital in the town.
However, she was later transferred to the Royal Victoria Hospital in Belfast.
A 30-year-old man has been taken into custody and is currently helping police with their enquiries.
Police say that he was not arrested at the scene.
The house where the child was found has been sealed-off and police have remained there throughout the day.
The Western Trust, which provides health and social care services in the area, says it has been made aware of a reported serious assault on a child.
In a statement the Trust said that it was currently assisting the police with their enquiries and would not be making any further comment at this time.
