Two men have been convicted at the Special Criminal Court of having bomb-making equipment.
Cormac Fitzpatrick, 23, from Cathedral Walk in Monaghan and 28-year-old Terry McConnell from Belfast were discovered by the Special Detective Unit in the bathroom of an apartment wearing latex gloves surrounded by timers, wiring, gun powder and pipe bomb casings.
They were caught in an apartment in The Cresent, Parkwest, on 9 September 2008.
The men were found with gun powder, foot-long tubular steel pipes and caps, wires, soldering iron, travel alarm clocks for timers, and four-inch nails to be taped to the bombs.
Both men tried to claim that they innocently ended up in the bathroom wearing latex gloves and surrounded by the equipment.
Terry McConnell said he set-off from Clones to view an apartment in Tallaght but ended up in another one in Parkwest, while Cormac Fitzpatrick claimed he was only the 'relief driver' for McConnell because he had been up since 6am that morning.
The Judges rejected their explanations.
The men were caught following a surveillance operation by the Special Detective Unit.
They are the last people to be convicted at the Green Street Courthouse in Dublin, which opened in 1797.
The court hosted trials for Robert Emmet, the United Irishmen, thousands of IRA and INLA suspects, as well as gang members such as John Gilligan and Brian Meehan.
