A member of An Garda Síochána is being questioned on suspicion of committing fraud.
The man, who is in his twenties and is stationed on the north side of Dublin, was arrested today.
He is suspected of committing a number of offences including trying to get money on false pretences from financial institutions.
He is being questioned at Kevin Street garda station and is being detained under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act.
He has been suspended from the force pending the outcome of the investigation.
