Police in Florida have launched a hunt for a man they say killed his aunt, twin sisters and his cousin's six-year-old daughter at a family gathering for the Thanksgiving holiday.
Paul Merhige, aged 35, of Miami, fled the scene of the multiple shooting in Jupiter, Florida, officials said.
‘At this point of the investigation, detectives have confirmed four of the victims are deceased,’ Jupiter police said in a statement.
Among those killed was six-year-old McKayla Sitton, the daughter of his cousin Muriel Sitton and Jim Sitton. It has been reported that the girl was in bed when she was shot.
The other victims were the suspected shooter's aunt Raymonde Joseph, aged 76, and his twin sisters Carla and Lisa Merhige, 33. Police said Lisa Merhige was pregnant.
Other people injured in the shooting included Patrick McKnight, who was being treated at a local hospital, his condition unknown, and a cousin Clifford Gebara, who was also treated for minor injuries.
