RTÉ's proposal for redevelopment of its Donnybrook campus has been accepted by local councillors.
The national broadcaster wants to redevelop the site by demolishing most existing facilities and building three interconnected blocks for broadcasting facilities by 2025.
Councillors on the South East Area Committee accepted the need for redevelopment to cater for new technology and welcomed the organisation's intention to remain in Donnybrook.
However, some councillors expressed concern about the lack of community gain and the height of the new buildings, one of which will be the equivalent of nine office storeys high.
The proposal would also involve building a new entrance onto the N11 Stillorgan dual carriageway.
