The Food Safety Authority has said that a restaurant and a greengrocers' shop were served with orders for breaches of food safety laws last month.
A closure order was imposed on the Yue Lai Xiang restaurant, 100A Parnell Street, Dublin, while an improvement order was served on the Fruit 4 U greengrocer on Melitta Road in Kildare.
Also in October, the HSE South Region successfully prosecuted the operator of Golden Dragon Chinese & Thai Restaurant, Market Quay, Bandon, Cork.
Prof Alan Reilly, Chief Executive, FSAI, said that food businesses must have an adequate food safety management system in place so that they can assure consumers that the food they are eating has been handled and cooked to the highest standard.
