The trial of two Dublin men accused of murdering 35-year-old Crumlin man David Rooney last year has collapsed.
The jury was discharged after hearing that the State would not be offering any further evidence in the trial and was entering a Nolle Prosequi.
Jason Curry, aged 20, from Leighlin Road, Crumlin and Karl Fay, aged 18, of Lismore Road, Crumlin had denied murdering Mr Rooney at Clonmacnoise Road, Crumlin, on 12 July 2008.
It had been alleged that Mr Curry attacked Mr Rooney with a snooker cue while Mr Fay hit him with a golf club.
Mr Rooney died from his injuries in hospital ten days after the attack.
Earlier, the jury heard brief evidence by video link from a 12-year-old boy who said he saw two men wearing hoods chasing another man on the evening of the alleged attack.
The boy said he did not recognise any of those involved.
He said he saw one of the men throw a wooden stick that hit the man in the back.
