The trial in Lithuania of a Co Louth man charged with trying to buy arms and explosives for the Real IRA has been adjourned until 7 October.

Michael Campbell, 36, from Dundalk, was arrested in Vilnius in a sting operation by an intelligence officer posing as an international arms dealer.

Mr Campbell denies the charges and claims he was trying to buy cigarettes.

The crimes carry sentences of up to eight years and 20 years respectively.

Mr Campbell's lawyers claim the case is groundless.
