Police in Northern California are investigating the death of a 48-year-old Irishman in a shooting.
It is believed that the victim was originally from Co Kerry, but had been living in the US for around 20 years.
The incident took place in Fiddletown in Amador County, around 72km from Sacramento.
It is thought that the man was investigating a disturbance in a neighbour's house when he was shot.
The Department of Foreign Affairs has said that it is aware of an incident involving an Irish citizen, and that it has been in touch with his family.
