Man dies in Clondalkin shooting

Gardaí are investigating two gun attacks in a housing estate in Clondalkin, Dublin.

A 25-year-old man died after the first shooting, while two men were arrested following the second attack on a nearby house.

The dead man was shot twice in the head near is home in Lealand Close in Clondalkin just before 10pm last night.

He was brought to Tallaght Hospital were he died several hours later.

Gardaí have launched a murder inquiry and are waiting for post mortem results.

Those responsible for the shooting fled the scene in a silver BMW, which was later found nearby at Lindisfarne Park where an attempt had been made to set the car on fire.

Four hours after that shooting, several shots were fired into a house in another part of the Lealand Estate.

No-one was injured in that attack but two men were arrested.

It is not known if the two gun attacks are linked.
