A pregnant British woman, who was jailed for life in Laos for heroin smuggling, has arrived in London.
Samantha Orobator, 20, who became pregnant in jail, was released to complete her sentence in Britain.
Her mother, Jane, who lives in Ireland, has said she is overjoyed by her daughter’s return.
Orobator was arrested in possession of heroin in August last year as she tried to leave Laos for Australia.
Laos has a mandatory death sentence for drug smuggling but she was spared when she became pregnant in jail.
Earlier this week, following an agreement between Britain and Laos, Orobator was handed over to UK officials to serve out her sentence in Britain as a humanitarian gesture.
She is due to give birth next month.
The British Foreign Office has confirmed it is working to secure the transfer of another British prisoner, John Watson, reportedly the father of the child, who is also serving a sentence for drug smuggling.
