A 24-year-old man, believed to be a major criminal, has been arrested in Dublin for firearm possession.
He was arrested carrying a handgun at Charleville Avenue in Dublin 3 at 11pm last night.
The man is thought to have been in possession of a loaded semi-automatic pistol.
He was arrested by an armed patrol in the area which has been deployed as the result of an ongoing feud in the area.
No shots were fired and no one was injured during the operation.
He is being held at Store Street Garda Station and can be questioned for up to three days.
