An eight-year-old boy was injured after being struck with a baseball bat when a gang burst into his home near Belfast.
The gang of five or six masked men forced their way into a house at Carmeen Drive in the mainly loyalist Rathcoole estate at Newtownabbey at around 2am.
They used baseball bats to smash various items in the house and also broke a number of windows.
Police investigating the incident say the boy was struck with the baseball bat. He was treated in hospital but his injuries are not thought to be life threatening.
Detectives are treating the incident as an aggravated burglary and have appealed to anyone with information to contact them.
