Alexander Nadwodny - Gardaí wish to speak to him

Gardaí investigating the fatal stabbing of a 20-year-old Kieran Cunningham in Galway last month have launched an appeal to locate a man they wish to speak to as part of their enquiries.

Officers say they wish to speak to 27-year-old Alexander Nadwodny, who is originally from Krakow in Poland.

They are appealing to Mr Nadwodny or anyone who may know where he is to contact them.

Seven weeks ago Mr Cunningham was found stabbed at Williamsgate Street just off Eyre Square in Galway, just minutes after he had left a nearby nightclub. He had been out with friends, but they became separated. It was a friend who later found him lying on the street.

Mr Cunningham died later in hospital.

Over the past two months, a team of gardaí have been carrying out an investigation into Mr Cunningham's death. Today, the local superintendent said gardaí still wish to speak with Alexander Nadwodny who had been living in Galway for around three years.

Superintendent Tom Curley said: ‘We've been working with our colleagues in other police forces through Interpol, but we are also asking the public to give us all the assistance they can’.

The Crimestoppers Trust is now offering a €10,000 reward for information that helps to solve the case. Anyone with information is asked to contact Crimestoppers on 1800 25 00 25.
