The PSNI has said a man who skipped bail this week before being found guilty of a murder in Derry may now be in the Republic.
Police have asked gardaí for their assistance in tracing the man.
James Meehan went on the run on Tuesday, a day before he, his wife and her son were found guilty of murdering James McFadden outside his home in Derry two years ago.
Meehan has managed to evade police since Tuesday, leaving Brenda Meehan and Sean Devenney to face life behind bars.
The PSNI believes Meehan could be sheltering in his home county of Meath.
Superintendent Frankie Taylor, who is leading the search, this afternoon made a public appeal for information.
'Inquiries so far lead us to believe that Mr Meehan may be using a Renault Laguna registration BNZ 4025,' he said.
Police also believe he spent some time in Limavady last weekend.
They said Meehan is originally from Co Meath but has lived in Derry for the last 12 years and would be well known around the city.
The PSNI is working closely with An Garda Síochána to locate Meehan if he has indeed come into the Republic.
Mr McFadden died after being attacked outside his Moyolla Drive home after he and his family had attended a wedding reception in Co Donegal at which the Meehans and Sean Devenney were also guests.
In the wake of the guilty verdict, Mr McFadden's widow, Ita, also appealed for help in finding Meehan.
Superintendent Taylor warned the public not to approach Meehan.
Anyone with information should call the gardaí or police.
