A second search carried out by gardai in Longford town has ended without the detection of any other explosive devices.
Two people are being questioned after the explosive devices were found in the newly-constructed house on Killashee Road outside Longford town.
The pipe bombs were found at the back of the building.
Gardaí say the search was part of an ongoing investigation.
The army bomb disposal team was called in and removed the pipe bombs to the Custume Military Barracks in Athlone.
The two people arrested are being held at Longford Garda Station.
It is believed the pipe bombs were about to be removed for use by feuding criminals elsewhere in Ireland.
Gardaí said the find is significant and may well have saved lives.
