Two men have been arrested in connection with the murder of a man in Belfast this morning.

A man in his 40s was arrested in the Belfast area this afternoon, while a 46-year-old man was arrested this morning.

Police launched the murder inquiry following the fatal stabbing of a man in the north of the city in the early hours of this morning.

George Morrison, 29, was found lying in the street in the Brookhill Avenue area at around 2.30am.

The PSNI says he had suffered a number of stab wounds.

Detectives investigating this murder are appealing for witnesses, particularly anyone who was in the vicinity at the time and noticed an argument or one or more men leaving the area.

SDLP councillor Pat Convery said locals were shocked that a man was stabbed to death on their doorstep.
