Two brothers have gone on trial charged with the murder of a 30-year old man in Killarney in Co Kerry two years ago.
Shane O'Riordan, 19, and Gerard O'Riordan, 28, of Arbutus Grove in Killarney are charged with the murder of James Brazier at a house at Pinewood in Killarney on 15 April 2007.
At the Central Criminal Court in Cork, prosecuting Senior Counsel Michael Durack told the jury that it would hear that Shane O'Riordan stabbed Mr Brazier in the back 12 times and that Gerard O'Riordan struck him about the body.
Mr Durack also said Mr Brazier was stamped on and was struck with a metal-framed kitchen chair.
The court was told that Mr Brazier had been drinking in Killarney the previous day with a 15-year old girl who was known to Shane O'Riordan.
The trial continues tomorrow and is expected to last up to two weeks.
