A 32-year-old man is in a critical condition in hospital after he was stabbed in Tralee, Co Kerry.
A second man has been arrested for questioning.
Gardaí were called to a house at Racecourse Lawn in Tralee at around 7pm.
It is understood a number of people were attending a party when a dispute broke out.
The injured man was stabbed a number of times and was brought to Kerry General Hospital where he has undergone emergency surgery.
Gardaí have sealed off the house where the man lives along with an area on the street where they believe the stabbing took place for a technical examination.
