A 19-year-old man has appeared before Cork district court charged in connection with an armed stand-off in the city over the weekend.
He was charged with making threats to kill and has been remanded in custody until Tuesday.
He was one of two men arrested following an incident on John Redmond Street at around 11pm on Saturday night.
The second man, who is in his 20s, has been released without charge.
The two were detained in Mayfield Garda Station after an incident in which gardaí were confronted with what appeared to be a handgun.
At around midnight uniformed gardaí, acting on a call, arrived to a flat on John Redmond Street.
When they arrived they were confronted by two men, one of whom had what appeared to be a handgun.
The gardaí called for back-up from the regional support unit and two men were arrested..
