A man in his 30s has been arrested as part of a garda-PSNI investigation into the murder of Paul Quinn.

He was arrested in the Co Louth area shortly after 8am this morning and was taken to Carrickmacross Garda Station.

He is the 17th person to be questioned about the murder of Mr Quinn.

The arrest brings to eight the number of men who have been questioned in the Republic, while nine men have been arrested so far by the PSNI.

Mr Quinn was beaten by a gang of masked men in a shed near the village of Oran in Co Monaghan in October 2007.

The family of Mr Quinn, who was from Cullyhanna in south Armagh, have always blamed local republicans for his murder - a claim denied by Sinn Féin.
