A 42-year-old man has appeared in court charged with the murder of his wife in East Wall yesterday morning.
Brian Vickers, 35 Shelmalier Road, East Wall did not speak during the short hearing at the Bridewell district court.
Brian Vickers was arrested by gardaí at the Store St Garda Station at 4.37pm.
Minutes later he was charged with the murder of his wife and mother of four, Joan Vickers.
He made no reply to the charges.
Detective Garda Moriarty applied to have Mr Vickers held in custody for a week in Cloverhill prison.
Judge Patrick McMahon granted this reqest and granted him free legal aid.
Solicitor for Mr Vickers, Jenny McGeever indicated to the court she would be making a bail application to the High Court on Monday.
She asked that she be given notice of any prosecution objection to bail. Mr Vickers will appear before Cloverhill district court on April 28.
