A former garda sergeant who attempted to pay prostitutes to find young children for sex has been jailed for six years.
Kieran O'Halloran, aged 48, of Liffey Court, Clane, Co Kildare and Westminster Park, Foxrock, offered two prostitutes up to €10,000 to source the children.
O'Halloran pleaded guilty at Dublin Circuit Criminal Court to the offence.
Gardaí began investigating him after one of the prostitutes tipped them off.
Halloran was jailed for three years in 2003 for an almost identical offence.
