An agreement on cost-cutting at Dublin Bus has been rejected by members of the two main unions representing drivers.
Members of SIPTU and the NBRU were said to be concerned about the implications of taking 120 buses out of the fleet, changes to work practices and job security.
90% of NBRU workers and 80% of SIPTU workers voted against the proposals.
Dublin Bus is understood to be considering the outcome of the ballot.
However, sources suggest that the company is likely to implement its original cost saving measures from 29 March, including plans to make 160 newly-recruited drivers redundant.
Under the restructuring proposals negotiated at the Labour Relations Commission, the new recruits would have saved their jobs, while 80 older drivers would have been allowed to take voluntary redundancy.
