An actor and a courier who had sex with a 14-year-old boy have both been sentenced to two years in prison.
Thomas Rogers, 45, a former courier, of St Catherine's Avenue, Rush, Co Dublin, pleaded guilty to two charges of engaging in a sexual act with the boy in January and February 2007.
Patrick Dunleavy, a 42-year-old actor and teacher, of Sherrard Street Lower, Dublin, pleaded guilty to one charge of engaging in a sexual act with the teenager in January that year.
The two men had separately made contact with the boy through a gay website after he created a profile and said he was 19 years old.
Both men, however, admitted they knew he was younger than the age of consent but they still had sex with him.
Rogers had sex with the boy in his own home and near a lake.
Dunleavy had sex in the boy's bedroom when he was supposed to be at school and his mother was at work.
The boy's mother alerted gardaí after she found suggestive messages from the men and nude pictures of her son on his phone.
Her partner pretended to be the boy and sent Rogers a text to meet him.
He then followed him and gave his address and car registration number to the gardaí.
The two men were convicted on 9 March at the Dublin Circuit Criminal Court.
The judge said even though they did not groom or entice the child, it was a very serious crime requiring a custodial sentence and he sent them to prison for two years.
Two other men also met the boy through the website, but when they saw him they knew he was too young and did not take it further.
One of the men told the boy that he did not want to go to jail.
