A solicitor from Co Louth who was convicted of filming a young woman in a Belfast leaisure centre has been banned from practising law.
33-year-old Richie MacRitchie from Ardmullan, Omeath, Co Louth was given a four month suspended prison sentence for attempted voyeurism and put on the Sex Offenders Register for seven years.
MacRitchie admitted filming four clips of the victim, who was then aged 18, in the cubicle next to his at the Falls Leisure Centre in west belfast in October 2006.
He was found guilty of using his mobile phone to record the woman for the intention of sexual gratification.
The Solicitors Disciplinary Tribunal has ordered that MacRitchie be indefinitely suspended, meaning he is not permitted to practise as a solicitor.
MacRitchie, who is planning to appeal the court conviction, can also challenge the outcome of the Tribunal.
