Two men are being sought following the death of a 33-year-old man in a shooting in Dublin city.
Gardaí named the victim as John Carroll who was originally from the Charlemont Street area.
He was married with three children and worked as a car salesman.
The incident took place at Grumpy Jack's pub in the Coombe area at about 9.45pm last night.
Two men on a motorcycle pulled up outside the public house and the pillion passenger went inside and shot Mr Carroll a number of times at short range with a handgun.
He was taken to St James's Hospital where he died a short time later.
A post mortem later revealed he was shot three times in body.
Gardaí also believe at least one other shot was fired in the pub, which missed the victim.
Both suspects were wearing helmets and made their getaway on the motorcycle in the direction of Dean Street, Patrick Street and Kevin Street.
Gardaí have asked for the public's help in tracing a 'blue mid-range motorcycle'.
Supt Thady Muldoon of Kevin Street Garda Station confirmedMr Carroll was known to gardaí, but added that he had not come to any recent notice and the motive for his killing was unclear.
Gardaí say there was nothing to indicate it was a 'gangland' shooting, other than the type of incident.
Around 20 witnesses in the pub have been interviewed and gardaí are appealing for anyone who was in the area between 9pm and 10pm last night to contact them on 6669400.
State Pathologist Dr Marie Cassidy is to carry out a post mortem examination this afternoon.
