Bus and rail workers have voted for industrial action if Bus Éireann and Dublin Bus proceed without agreement with plans to cut back services and lay off 270 drivers.

The National Bus & Rail Union said it received an overwhelming mandate from its members for industrial action up to and including all-out strike.

The NBRU is convening a special meeting of its national executive council tomorrow to formally decide future action.

It will make an announcement following the meeting.

Minister for Transport Noel Dempsey has urged management and unions to negotiate.
