The next Moderator of the Presbyterian Church will be the Reverend Stafford Carson, minister of First Portadown Presbyterian Church.
The 57-year-old was nominated by 10 out of the 21 Presbyteries who met yesterday throughout Ireland to vote.
Reverend Carson will take up office on 1 June in succession to Dr Donald Patton who continues as Moderator until that time.
