The suspect in last week's fatal knife attack at a Belgian creche has been accused of killing an elderly lady.

Police also said it appeared that 20-year-old Kim De Gelder was planning attacks on other nurseries.

The 73-year-old woman was killed on 16 January.

She was found stabbed to death in her apartment in Beveren, near Antwerp, while her husband was visiting neighbours.

Prosecutor Christian Du Four said Mr De Gelder had not spoken about either incident and therefore had not confessed to them.

He said the man had a list of three creches in Dendermonde, including the one where he attacked.

Mr De Gelder was charged on Saturday with killing two babies, aged six and nine months, and a nurse at the creche in Dendermonde, southwest of Antwerp, on Friday.
