Gun recovered in O'Kane murder probe

A handgun and a quantity of ammunition have been recovered as part of the investigation into the murder of Aidan O’Kane.

Gardaí carried out searches at houses in Dublin’s north inner city earlier today, also discovering a quantity of assorted illegal drugs.

The handgun will undergo forensic and ballistic tests.

Mr O’Kane, a father of one, was shot once in the body at around 7.15pm on Sunday and died 30 minutes later in hospital.

A 32-year-old woman, who was in custody at Pearse Street Garda station in relation to the investigation, has been released without charge.

Yesterday, a 16-year-old youth was remanded in custody charged with Mr O'Kane's murder.
