Catherine Nevin - Mobile phone case adjourned

The case against convicted murderer Catherine Nevin who is charged with possession of a mobile phone in prison has been adjourned to next January.

Mrs Nevin made a brief appearance at Dublin District Court this morning but the case was adjourned because of her forthcoming case at the Court of Criminal Appeal.

Judge William Early was told that a date had been set in January for the hearing of Ms Nevin's attempt to have her conviction for the murder of her husband declared a miscarriage of justice.

Her solicitor told the court that depending on the outcome of that case, it could be argued the current charge of possession of a mobile phone becomes moot.

The case was adjourned until 21 January next.

Mrs Nevin was found guilty after a 42-day trial in April 2000 of the murder of her husband Tom at their pub, Jack White's Inn, Brittas Bay, in March 1996.
