A Dublin man has been found guilty of murdering a 25-year-old father of two last year.

24-year-old Bryan Ryan from Sheepmore Crescent in Blanchardstown has been sentenced to life in prison for the murder of Ian Tobin at Fortlawn Park in Blanchardstown in May 2007.

During the trial the Central Criminal Court heard that the 25-year-old father of two was not the intended target, as his brother Blake was involved in a long-running feud.

The jury heard that Mr Ryan drove a motorbike on the night of the murder. The court also heard his pillion passenger shot Mr Tobin.

After deliberating for over ten hours a jury today convicted Ryan of murder. Mr Justice Barry White sentenced him to life in prison.

In a victim impact statement read to the court the victim's partner, Sarah Murphy, said her two young sons missed Ian terribly.

She described Ian as a hard-working decent man who didn't deserve to die the way he did.

Ms Murphy said her partner seldom went out socially as they struggled to pay their mortgage, bills and raise two young children. She said they had financially struggled since his death.
