A principal figure in one of Limerick's feuding criminal gangs has been sent to prison.
Gerard Dundon, a senior member in the McCarthy-Dundon gang was arrested in Limerick yesterday afternoon on a committal warrant after he was sentenced to ten months in prison last July for 34 road traffic offences.
He appealed but failed to turn up for his appeal.
21-year-old Dundon was targeted by a special garda operation and stopped while driving a black bullet proof BMW.
He claimed at the time he lived in constant fear of being murdered.
Dundon was then lodged in Limerick prison to serve the ten month sentence.
Separately, a warrant for the arrest of his brother John Dundon was issued at Limerick District Court yesterday.
